How can parents check their child's performance online?

Parents can check their child’s performance through short lesson updates, a monthly progress summary and an agreed chance to observe a class. Share what the child studied, what improved and what to practice next; keep invoices and class details easy to find separately.

How can parents check progress, and how often should you share it?

Parents need evidence they can understand and a predictable way to ask questions. Offer a brief update after class and recommend a monthly summary that looks across the lesson notes. Agree that rhythm at enrollment. Separate the child’s learning from attendance and billing, so a parent can understand progress without searching through payment messages.

A useful update answers practical questions: what did the child work on, what could the child do independently, and where was help still needed? Replace broad praise with an observed action. Describe the task rather than labeling the child as strong or weak.

Offer an agreed opportunity to observe, consistent with the NSPCC guidance above. Observation can help a parent understand how the teacher supports the child. Keep assessment grounded in repeated observations rather than a single difficult session. For Quran memorization updates, use the separate guide to hifz progress reports parents read.

What belongs in a 5-minute lesson update?

A lesson update should give the parent enough detail to support practice without reproducing the teacher’s entire lesson record. Use the NSPCC’s 5-minute recommendation as a communication habit, not a promise that every update takes exactly that long. Keep the wording specific, respectful and tied to the work the teacher actually observed during class.

Use a repeatable sequence:

  1. Name the material or skill covered in class.
  2. Describe what the child completed independently and where help was needed.
  3. Explain the next practice task in everyday language.
  4. Tell the parent how to raise a question or concern.

Distinguish parent updates from internal reports. An internal rating helps an admin review teaching records, but a rating without context does not tell a parent what to do next. In Halqora, reports remain internal; an admin must prepare and send any family-facing summary separately.

What makes an invoice easy for parents to understand and pay?

An invoice should tell the parent what period the charge covers, what the charge includes, what remains unpaid and when payment is due. Put the payment route beside those details. A parent should be able to open the invoice, check the amount and find payment instructions without searching through an unrelated lesson conversation.

Use a recognizable subject line and a clear invoice reference. Show the currency wherever an amount could be misunderstood. If a parent questions a charge, answer against the invoice line and the recorded class outcome, rather than sending a fresh total without an explanation.

Public invoice pages remove the account-login step from checking a bill. In Halqora, billing runs create drafts for admin review and sending. As of 21 October 2026, the default due date is 7 days after sending; automatic email reminders for unpaid invoices default to 3 days before, 3 days after and 10 days after the due date.

What do email, WhatsApp and SMS reminders actually prove?

Reminders can make an appointment easier to remember, but reminder evidence needs context. The Cochrane review above concerns healthcare, not teaching. Treat those results as a reason to assess a reminder process, rather than a forecast of your academy’s attendance. Choose a channel you can maintain and make the message useful when a parent opens it.

The review covered 8 randomized controlled trials with 6,615 participants. Reported attendance was 80.3% with phone-call reminders, alongside the text-message and no-reminder results above. Those figures do not establish which channel parents at your academy prefer or how much lesson attendance would change.

For a separately managed email reminder process, include the student’s name, class date, time in the family’s time zone and private join link. Give the parent a clear route to report a problem. Check that the schedule is current before sending a reminder about a changed class.

Keep class reminders and payment reminders distinct. Halqora does not send class reminders by any channel. Through the academy’s paired WhatsApp it sends invoice and payment messages and follow-ups, an after-class report to the family, and join and no-show alerts to admins, and it sends no SMS. Families can check their next class through a permanent private class link. The guide to class reminders that reduce no-shows discusses the wider operational process; do not treat that process as a Halqora feature.

What channel rules should you check before sending messages?

Email delivery and messaging permission need an owner just as lesson updates do. Ask whoever manages your sending domain to check authentication and delivery requirements. For WhatsApp business messages, follow Meta’s published opt-in requirements. Keep the family’s channel choices clear, and avoid assuming that a phone number supplied for enrollment grants permission for business messaging.

As of 21 October 2026, Google’s email sender requirements require all senders to use SPF or DKIM, valid forward and reverse DNS, TLS and RFC 5322-formatted messages, with spam rates below 0.3%. These requirements have applied since 1 February 2024. Ask your email provider to confirm the setup rather than judging delivery from a successful test alone.

According to Yahoo’s sender best practices, checked 21 October 2026, bulk senders need SPF and DKIM, a passing DMARC policy of at least p=none, From-domain alignment and one-click unsubscribe honored within 2 days. Yahoo also specifies spam rates below 0.3%.

Meta’s WhatsApp opt-in guidance, checked 21 October 2026, says opt-in must name the business. Keep the permission record with the parent contact details. These are platform requirements; do not confuse permission for a business channel with a promise that your academy software sends messages through that channel.

A communication schedule works when every message has an owner and the owner knows where the information comes from. Use this table as a recommended workflow, with Halqora’s actual features labeled separately. Confirm the contact, timing and responsibility at enrollment, then update the plan when a family’s circumstances or schedule changes.

Check messages on a narrow screen before sending. Use descriptive links and readable payment instructions. Apply the W3C target-size guidance above when designing buttons, so a parent can select the intended action without tapping a nearby link by mistake.

How Halqora handles this

Halqora is management software for online academies. As of 21 October 2026, teachers record a 1 to 5 rating and written feedback after completed classes; reports are due within 24 hours and remain internal. Admins see reports, and payroll waits until reports are in.

Billing runs draft invoices for admin review and sending. Invoice emails include a PDF and a private page needing no login. Unpaid invoices receive automatic email reminders. Families use a permanent private class link to check their next class; invoice and class links can be replaced to disable old links.

Questions readers ask

How can parents check their child's performance in online classes?

Ask the academy for short written lesson updates and a monthly summary covering the work studied, progress, practice needs and recorded attendance. Agree who sends the updates and how parents can ask questions. Halqora lesson reports are internal to teachers and admins, so an academy using Halqora must prepare and share parent updates separately.

Can I attend a session with my child?

Ask your academy about observing a session. NSPCC guidance for tutors suggests giving parents the option to sit in, but arrange observation with the academy rather than assuming access. Let your child answer independently and agree how you will raise questions afterward. Observation adds context to written updates; a difficult session alone does not establish a pattern.

Do class reminders really reduce missed lessons?

A Cochrane healthcare review reported attendance of 67.8% without reminders and 78.6% with text reminders. Those results concern appointments, not online lessons, so they do not establish an academy's likely improvement. Class reminders are a reasonable process to assess against your own records. Halqora does not send class reminders; its automatic reminders concern unpaid invoices.

Can my academy message parents on WhatsApp?

According to Meta's published opt-in guidance, businesses need permission before messaging people on WhatsApp, and the opt-in must name the business. Agree what messages parents will receive and keep a record of that permission. Treat WhatsApp as a separate communication decision. Halqora sends invoice and payment messages and follow-ups through the academy's paired WhatsApp; it does not send class reminders, so this workflow does not depend on it for them.
