- [Excel (.xlsx)](https://halqora.com/resources/class-schedule-time-zone-planner.xlsx)

Enter a class in the teacher's local time and the sheet shows the day and time the student sees, with UTC in between. Slots that land before 07:00 or after 22:00 for the student turn red, and an overlap grid shows the hours when a teacher and a student are both awake.

## What's in the file

| Tab | What it does |
|---|---|
| Classes | Student, teacher, day and start time in the teacher's time. UTC, the student's day and the student's start and end times are formulas |
| People | Each teacher and student, their place, and whether their clocks are moved forward now |
| Overlap | Every hour of the day in the local time of the first ten people. Green is 07:00 to 22:00 |
| Time zones | 20 common places for online academies with standard and summer UTC offsets and when clocks change |
| How to use | The steps, plus the clock-change dates for 2026 and 2027 |

## How to use it

1. Add your teachers and students on the People tab and pick each person's place. Add a row to the Time zones tab if a place is missing.
2. Set "Clocks moved forward now?" to Yes for anyone on summer time today.
3. On the Classes tab, enter each class in the teacher's day and time. Read the student's time from the bold column.
4. Use the Overlap tab to find new slots: look for rows that are green for both people.
5. Around each clock change, flip the Yes/No column for the regions that changed and check every class that crosses them.

## Clock changes to watch

| Date | Who changes |
|---|---|
| 25 October 2026 | UK and EU go back 1 hour |
| 29 October 2026 (end of day) | Egypt goes back 1 hour, under the current rule |
| 1 November 2026 | US and Toronto go back 1 hour |
| 14 March 2027 | US and Toronto go forward 1 hour |
| 28 March 2027 | UK and EU go forward 1 hour |
| 4 April 2027 | Sydney and Melbourne go back 1 hour |

Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, the Gulf states and Turkey do not change clocks, but their classes with families in the US, UK, Europe or Australia still move. The posts on [scheduling across time zones](https://halqora.com/blog/schedule-online-classes-across-time-zones) and [US and UK gap weeks](https://halqora.com/blog/us-uk-clock-change-gap-weeks) go deeper.

Halqora sets recurring classes in each person's own time zone, so a class keeps its local time through clock changes without editing a sheet. See [scheduling](https://halqora.com/features/scheduling).
