As of 21 October 2026, upcoming clock changes are UK/EU 25 October, [Egypt after 29 October](https://data.iana.org/time-zones/tzdb/africa) if current rules hold, and [US 1 November](https://nist.gov/pml/time-and-frequency-division/popular-links/daylight-saving-time-dst). In 2027, US changes fall on 14 March and 7 November; UK/EU changes fall on 28 March and 31 October.

> **Key facts:** - UK/EU clocks go back on 25 October 2026, before the US change on 1 November, according to the UK clock-change calendar and [NIST's US daylight saving rule](https://nist.gov/pml/time-and-frequency-division/popular-links/daylight-saving-time-dst).
> - British Columbia stays on UTC-7 after its final change on 8 March 2026, according to [B.C.'s permanent Pacific time announcement](https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/governments/celebrating-british-columbia/daylight-saving-time).
> - Manitoba moves to permanent UTC-5 on 31 October 2026, according to [IANA's time-zone release notes](https://data.iana.org/time-zones/tzdb/NEWS).
> - New South Wales ends daylight saving on 4 April 2027, according to the [NSW daylight saving calendar](https://nsw.gov.au/about-nsw/daylight-saving).

> **Definition:** Daylight saving time, or DST, is a seasonal clock adjustment that changes a region's local time relative to regions whose clocks stay fixed.

## Which clock changes are left in 2026?

The remaining 2026 changes affect different class pairs on different dates. As of 21 October 2026, UK/EU clocks go back on 25 October, Cairo returns to UTC+2 after Thursday 29 October if the current rule holds, and the US falls back on 1 November. Toronto follows the US dates, while several Canadian regions keep their current clocks.

Treat each change as a scheduling decision. If a UK family's local class time stays fixed when UK clocks go back, the same class becomes 1 hour later for a teacher in Pakistan. If the teacher's Pakistan time stays fixed instead, the family's UK time becomes 1 hour earlier.

The UK and US change on different weekends. Keep the temporary gap-week arrangement distinct from the arrangement after both changes.

## When do clocks change in 2027?

The 2027 calendar starts with the US and Toronto spring change on 14 March, followed by the UK/EU on 28 March. The US dates are calculated from NIST's official rule, as of 21 October 2026. New South Wales ends daylight saving on 4 April, while Egypt starts on 30 April if its current rule holds.

The autumn sequence also differs: Egypt goes back after 28 October if the current rule holds, the UK/EU on 31 October, and the US on 7 November. New South Wales moves in the opposite seasonal direction, starting daylight saving on 3 October under the NSW rule.

March and autumn gap periods deserve their own review. The guide to [US-UK gap weeks explained](https://halqora.com/blog/us-uk-clock-change-gap-weeks) covers how to handle the temporary difference without accidentally changing a recurring class permanently.

## What is the full 2026–2027 clock-change calendar?

The calendar below uses the rules supplied as of 21 October 2026. Each class effect assumes the class stays fixed at the changing region's local time, with Pakistan as the unchanged reference. Reverse the direction if Pakistan's class time stays fixed instead. The final US change is included so the autumn sequence is complete.

| Date (local calendar) | Region | Change (hours or UTC offset) | Effect on a class with a UK, US or Pakistan side (hours) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 25 October 2026 | UK/EU | Back 1 hour | UK-fixed class becomes 1 hour later in Pakistan. |
| 29–30 October 2026 | Egypt, if current rule holds | Back to UTC+2 at Thursday's end | Cairo-fixed class becomes 1 hour later in Pakistan. |
| 31 October 2026 | Manitoba | Permanent UTC-5; no clock movement | No local shift; do not apply Toronto's fallback. |
| 1 November 2026 | US/Toronto | Back 1 hour; B.C., Alberta, NWT and Manitoba stay put | US/Toronto-fixed class becomes 1 hour later in Pakistan. |
| 14 March 2027 | US/Toronto | Forward 1 hour | US/Toronto-fixed class becomes 1 hour earlier in Pakistan. |
| 28 March 2027 | UK/EU | Forward 1 hour | UK-fixed class becomes 1 hour earlier in Pakistan. |
| 4 April 2027 | New South Wales | Back 1 hour | NSW-fixed class becomes 1 hour later in Pakistan. |
| 30 April 2027 | Egypt, if current rule holds | Forward to UTC+3 | Cairo-fixed class becomes 1 hour earlier in Pakistan. |
| 3 October 2027 | New South Wales | Forward 1 hour | NSW-fixed class becomes 1 hour earlier in Pakistan. |
| 28 October 2027, end of day | Egypt, if current rule holds | Back to UTC+2 | Cairo-fixed class becomes 1 hour later in Pakistan. |
| 31 October 2027 | UK/EU | Back 1 hour | UK-fixed class becomes 1 hour later in Pakistan. |
| 7 November 2027 | US/Toronto | Back 1 hour | US/Toronto-fixed class becomes 1 hour later in Pakistan. |

Australia needs a regional check. NSW, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the ACT observe DST; Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory do not. Do not apply the NSW rows to every Australian family.

## Which countries and regions do not change their clocks?

Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and the UAE use fixed offsets without DST, according to [IANA's Asia time-zone data](https://data.iana.org/time-zones/tzdb/asia), as of 21 October 2026. Pakistan stays on UTC+5, Saudi Arabia on UTC+3 and the UAE on UTC+4. Most of Saskatchewan also does not change clocks. An unchanged local clock does not mean an unchanged international class time.

Write down whose local time the recurring class protects. “Keep the family's local time” and “keep the teacher's local time” produce different results. Use [how to schedule classes across time zones](https://halqora.com/blog/schedule-online-classes-across-time-zones) to make that choice before you send confirmations.

## Which Canadian regions stopped changing clocks in 2026?

Canada needs regional scheduling because the 2026 changes do not apply nationwide. As of 21 October 2026, British Columbia uses permanent UTC-7, Alberta uses permanent UTC-6 effective 18 June, and the Northwest Territories uses permanent UTC-6 from 21 August. Manitoba moves to permanent UTC-5 on 31 October. Toronto continues changing with the US.

Manitoba's update appears in IANA release 2026e, dated 29 September 2026. Devices using older time-zone data may show the wrong Winnipeg time after 1 November. An expected clock change in an old calendar is therefore a reason to check the software's time-zone data.

Check Canadian families by their regional time zone. Do not copy a Toronto adjustment across a Canadian roster. For families in the regions that stopped changing, confirm that the displayed class time reflects the new permanent offset.

## Why do Egypt's dates need another check?

Egypt's dates should remain conditional because the country has changed DST at short notice before. IANA's Africa commentary records a Ramadan suspension in 2014, cancellation weeks before the expected April 2015 start, and cancellation days before a planned 2016 start. As of 21 October 2026, the 2027 dates follow the current rule, rather than separate government confirmation supplied here.

Cairo used UTC+3 from Friday 24 April 2026 and returns to UTC+2 at the end of Thursday 29 October if the current rule holds. The corresponding 2027 dates are Friday 30 April and the end of Thursday 28 October, also conditional.

## What should you do the week before each change?

Clock-change preparation starts with the class rule, then checks the displayed appointments. Review every affected teacher-family pairing rather than changing a whole country's roster together. Confirm the next class in each person's local time and state whether the change is temporary. A correct calendar still needs a clear message so families and teachers follow the same arrangement.

1. **Check the regional time zones.** Use named IANA zones such as Africa/Cairo rather than treating a current UTC offset as a permanent rule.
2. **Choose whose time stays fixed.** Record whether the family or teacher keeps the local class time. Avoid making that decision through an unexplained calendar edit.
3. **Check the appointments around the change.** Review dates before and after the transition, including the gap before the other region changes.
4. **Confirm with both sides.** Include the class date, each person's local time and the regional time zones. Ask both sides to acknowledge the arrangement.
5. **Review exceptions separately.** Recheck Egyptian dates and Canadian devices with older time-zone data. Resolve a conflicting display before treating a missed connection as an absence.

Software that stores scheduling rules in each IANA time zone, as Halqora does, recalculates class times automatically; you still confirm with families. Read [how recurring classes should be stored](https://halqora.com/blog/utc-vs-local-time-recurring-classes) when reviewing whether your recurring schedule preserves the intended local time.

## How Halqora handles this

Halqora is management software for online academies. [Halqora scheduling](https://halqora.com/features/scheduling) uses scheduling rules in each IANA time zone for one-to-one classes, so seasonal changes are reflected in the class times. The scheduling rule needs to match whose local time you intend to preserve, especially during US-UK gap weeks.

Families have a permanent private class link showing their next class. Halqora does not send class reminders, so confirm clock-change arrangements with teachers and families yourself.

## Questions

### When do the clocks change in 2027?

As of 21 October 2026, the 2027 calendar has US and Toronto changes on 14 March and 7 November, and UK/EU changes on 28 March and 31 October. Egypt changes on 30 April and after 28 October if its current rule holds. New South Wales ends daylight saving on 4 April and restarts on 3 October.

### Does Pakistan have daylight saving time?

No. As of 21 October 2026, Pakistan uses UTC+5 without daylight saving time, according to IANA's Asia time-zone data. A class fixed to a UK family's local time can still move on a Pakistan teacher's clock when the UK changes. Decide whose local time stays fixed, then confirm the resulting time with the teacher and family.

### Is Canada getting rid of daylight saving time?

Parts of Canada stopped changing clocks in 2026. As of 21 October 2026, British Columbia uses permanent UTC-7, Alberta and the Northwest Territories use permanent UTC-6, and Manitoba moves to permanent UTC-5 on 31 October. These regions will not fall back on 1 November. Toronto still changes with the US, so use the person's regional time zone.

### Does Egypt still use daylight saving time?

Yes. As of 21 October 2026, IANA's Africa time-zone data puts Cairo on UTC+3 during summer time and UTC+2 afterward. The 2026 return is at the end of Thursday 29 October if the current rule holds. Egypt has changed or cancelled daylight saving at short notice before, so confirm future dates before changing class arrangements.
